Celebrate Candlemas with
Marin Catholic on Thursday... |
| What
is Candlemas? On Thursday, the Church celebrates the feast of the
Presentation of the Lord (Luke 2: 22-40), which occurs forty days
after the birth of Jesus. Also known as "Candlemas", the liturgy
includes the blessing and procession of candles. Candles will be
supplied, but you may bring a candle from home to be blessed (to be used
for personal prayer, to place at the dinner table, etc.). Traditionally this day is also a celebration of consecrated life in the church; we are so pleased to be able to honor our three Dominican Sisters of Mary, Mother of the Eucharist! Mass will begin at 7:20am in the foyer outside the chapel to allow extra time for the candlelit procession. |
